Psychometric assessments can be a messy business. The entire arc of the service is a complex machine, set in motion by multiple well qualified (and expensive) professionals. The industry of assessments itself is no less complex: in South Africa and many other countries assessing for job fit is a highly regulated business. In this country, for instance, the governing body (the Health Professions Council of South Africa, HPSCA) oversees the development of tools and specifies the conditions under which they can be used.
The Wasted Time in Manual Assessments
So once a company decides to assess someone for either a selection or development purpose, a series of gears start to grind on the side of the assessment provider. When all these gears are enumerated and broken down, they look something like this:
